Rowe, Mercer & Hale LLP is pleased to announce that Maya Osei has joined the firm as an associate in its Commercial Litigation Group. Ms. Osei brings to the firm a distinguished academic record and practical courtroom experience gained as a judicial law clerk in one of the country’s busiest federal district courts.
Clerkship Experience
Ms. Osei most recently served as a law clerk to a United States District Judge in the Northern District of Illinois, where she assisted with a full range of civil and criminal matters, including complex commercial litigation, motions practice, and trial preparation. The Northern District handles a substantial volume of sophisticated commercial disputes, and clerks in that district gain direct exposure to the procedural and substantive issues that define federal commercial litigation.
That experience provides Ms. Osei with an unusually practical foundation. She has observed how federal judges analyze dispositive motions, evaluate expert testimony, assess damages theories, and approach settlement. Those insights inform every aspect of litigation strategy, from the initial case assessment through trial and post-trial proceedings.
Academic Background
Ms. Osei graduated from a top-ranked law school where she focused her studies on civil procedure, evidence, and complex litigation. She was a member of her school’s law review and participated in moot court competitions, developing the research, analysis, and oral advocacy skills that the firm’s trial-centered practice demands.
Role at the Firm
As an associate in the Commercial Litigation Group, Ms. Osei will work on a broad range of matters including breach of contract disputes, business torts, trade secret litigation, and shareholder disputes. The group handles cases in federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels.
